Practice Times will be as follows:

8-8:30         6 and under boys and girls

9:15-10:00     9-10 year old boys and girls

10:00-11:00     11 and up boys and girls

Please bring your child to the time allotted for their age group.  Practices are not mandatory, but encouraged.  You don’t get better if you don’t practice.  If you have a problem with getting your child to their practice, please see Rachel.

·         Thursday practices (after meets) will be fun days.   Swimmers will get their ribbons from the Wednesday night meet, swimmer of the week will be announced, and popsicles will be provided.

Meets:

There will be a poster at the pool with each meet listed.  Please sign this poster if your child will NOT swim at the meet.  Meet entries are due the Monday before the swim meet and are difficult to change.  Please let Rachel know ahead of time if your child will not be able to attend the swim meet!!!!!!!

Every child will participate in the swim meet.  The top three swimmers in each age group, for each stroke, will swim for points.  1st place gets 5 points, 2nd place gets 3 points, and 3rd place gets 1 point.  If your child does not swim for points, they will swim exhibition freestyle and quite possibly a relay.  A child is not allowed to swim for points if he/she is swimming exhibition and vice versa.  Exhibition is a great way for swimmers to improve their times.  Remember, the top three times for each stroke get to swim for points, so practice hard to improve times.  Relays are worth 7 points for first place.  Points are not awarded to any other finishes in relays, only 1st.  Teams are allowed to swim up to 3 relays for each age group.  The relays are named A, B, and C.  The A relays are the ones competing for 7 points.  The B and C relays are competing against each other.  They all swim at the same time.  Please check to see if your child is swimming on a relay.  It is very important to not skip a relay!  If one child misses a relay, the other three children do not get to swim.   Please note that your child may swim up on a relay if we are in need of a 4th swimmer.  (EX:  If a 9-10 year old swims on an 11-12 relay, they cannot swim on their own relay.)  Also, only one swimmer per relay can be a swim up.

Meets will be held every Wednesday night starting June 2.  Meet schedule will be as follows:

June 2 vs. GREN @ home

June 9 vs. JV @ home

June 16 vs. PIED away

June 23 vs. Camelot away

June30 vs. Monte Sano @ home

July 11-12 City Meet at the Nat

Parents:  You will NOT be in charge of getting your child to their event.  Coaches and volunteers will do this.  Your job is to sit back and have fun cheering on the Barracudas!

I know this seems like a lot, but swim meets are so much fun and are usually over by 9pm.

Stroke Clinic:

Stroke clinics will be held every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5-6 pm at the pool, weather permitting, 6/8 & Unders will be from 5:00-5:30 and 9 and up will be from 5:30-6:00.  Stroke clinic is primarily for those beginning swimmers who need extra stroke work.

City Meet:

City meet will be held at the Natatorium on Drake Ave the weekend of July 10-11.  This is the most important meet of the season and determines how we finish for the summer and who we swim against next summer.  This meet is an all day event and will be very fun and tiring.  Many volunteers are needed to run this meet, so please make plans to help out in some way.

More detailed information will come closer to City Meet, but here is an overview.

·         You  must swim two dual meets to swim at city meet.  (city rule:  no exceptions….sorry)

·         Swimmers age 10 and under swim in the morning.

·         Swimmers age 11 and up swim after lunch.

·         Saturday events are:  freestyle (points and exhibition), breast stroke, medley relay, and mixed relay

·         Sunday events are:  butterfly, backstroke, and free relay

·         There are no B and C relays at City Meet

·         A swimmer is not allowed to swim exhibition freestyle if they are swimming for points and vice versa.

·         Meet entries are due one week prior to city meet and cannot be changed for any reason.  It is important to PLAN AHEAD and let Rachel know if you are not participating.

·         Participation from every swim team family is encouraged, even if you are a beginner.  It is so much fun and your child will have a blast!  Plus, it’s a great experience.
